Malta Citizenship by Investment Program (12-month citizenship)


Malta's "Citizenship by Investment Program" was launched in 2014, allowing investors to obtain a Maltese passport as quickly as 12 months. This project has no language or academic requirements, no interviews, no immigration supervision and no residency requirements, and can enjoy the Schengen Convention free movement and other rights of EU citizens.

Application requirements

* Successful application: To become Maltese citizen (obtained EU passport)

* Age limit: 18 years or above

* Investment requirements: Purchase a property worth more than €700,000 and hold it for five years or rent a property worth €16,000 and hold it for five years

* Government donation: 750,000 euros/main applicant; 50,000 euros/each family member

* Charitable donation: €10,000

* Due diligence: €15,000/main applicant; €10,000/each dependent

* Residence application fee: 5,000 euros/main applicant; 1,000 euros/each dependent

* Application time: 12 months

* Dependent dependents: a) Spouse or common-law partner; b) Dependent children of both parties under the age of 29; c) Dependent parents of both parties over the age of 55; d) Dependent grandparents of both parties

AIMS service process

  • 1. Preliminary inquiries to AIMS and understand the project content
  • 2. Immigration assessment by AIMS consultant
  • 3. Sign a service agreement with AIMS and pay the service fee, and collect various documents from the applicant at the same time
  • 4. AIMS will submit documents to the Immigration Bureau on your behalf, and the Immigration Bureau will conduct due diligence and background checks on you and your family members.
  • 5. You and your family members need to go to the local area to complete biometric authentication, apply for an electronic residence permit and receive the residence permit. After the application is approved, the Immigration Bureau will issue an "In-Princip
  • 6. AIMS will arrange for remote property selection, and local colleagues and lawyers will assist in completing the property purchase or leasing process. After 12 months of becoming a resident, then can apply to become a Maltese citizen.
